Calico Hearts Journal
Notes from the Foster Room
Updates, stories, and the occasional 4 a.m. confession from life inside a foster-based kitten rescue.
It's Official: We're a Colorado Nonprofit (Now We Wait on the IRS)
Big news: Calico Hearts is now an official nonprofit in the state of Colorado. Our 501(c)(3) is filed and pending — and while the IRS takes its sweet time, we're geared up and ready to go full force with kitten missions.
Read the postFour Bottle Babies and a Whole New Respect for Mama Cats
Shaggy, Freddy, Daphne, and Velma — four orphaned tabbies with no mama in sight. Raising them by hand has taught me exactly how much a mother cat really does. Especially the ferals.

The little ones are doing so well — beautifully socialized, endlessly chaotic, and leaving me covered in new scratch marks by the hour. I wouldn't trade a second of it.
Read the postWhat the Kittens Taught Me About People
Rescue isn't just about the animals. It's reshaped how I see the people we rescue from — and the people we rescue for.
Read the postA Heart Full of Thanks (and Where We're Headed)
This started as a daydream and a shoebox of receipts. Here's a thank-you to every single person who turned it into something real.
Read the postWe're Going Official: The 501(c)(3) Journey
